Fast food chain McDonald’s has a bit of a tissue issue on its hands.
Lucas claims he ordered a meal at McDonald’s in Pacoima, California on January 29th and was only given ONE NAPKIN with his purchase.
He says he approached the counter to ask for extra serviettes, but his request was rudely refused by the general manager.
The lawsuit states that Lucas became angry and responded:
“I should have went to eat at the Jack-in-the-Box because I didn’t come here to argue over napkins. I came here to eat”The African-American man alleges that the Mexican-American McDonald’s manager was racist towards him, mumbling something that sounded like “you people”.
TMZ has obtained emails sent to McDonalds by Lucas, in which he states that he is “unable to work” as a result of the “emotional distress” caused by the incident.
The customer service team offered Lucas free burgers but he didn’t bite.
This isn’t the first time McDonald’s has found itself at the centre of a major lawsuit. The Daily Mail revisited the case of 79 year old Stella Liebeck, who controversially sued the company for $2.9 million (approximately €2 million) in 1994.
She spilled hot coffee on herself, suffered third-degree burns and was hospitalised as a result. Liebeck’s attorney claimed that the McDonald’s coffee involved was far too hot.
A second suit involving hot coffee was filed in an American court last October.
ABC30 reported that a 74-year-old woman suffered second-degree burns to her groin area after coffee spilled on her lap at a McDonald’s drive-through, and was suing the company for more than $2 million.
